Capitalization does not matter. “Federal Government” will produce the same results as “federal government.”
But accents do. “Quebec” will produce different results from “Québec.”

Select all of these, any of these, or as a phrase from the drop-down list to specify how you want multiple words to be combined.
Narrow the scope of your search by changing Keyword Anywhere to the index of your choice in the next drop-down list (after within). Or add a Limit with the optional dropdown panel.
Add to your search by selecting a Boolean operator (AND, OR, NOT) and entering more search terms.

You can insert a wildcard character at the beginning or inside a word.
Use "?" to replace a single wildcard character. ("col?r" will match "color," but not “colour.”)
Use "*" to take place of any number of characters. ("col*r" will match "color" or "colour".)

The "As a phrase" operator will find any result containing the exact string entered.

The "All of these" or "Any of these" operators, insert a * wildcard at the end of all your words. (So “Manitoba” will also include hits on “Manitoban” and Manitobans.”)

Most punctuation marks (hyphens, slashes, periods, etc.) are replaced by spaces. If you are searching for ISBN, use only the numbers. (“9781771122788” will produce a result, whereas “978-177-112-278-8” will not.)

Refine your search by adding limits, or by applying facets.
