2014 CRKN Discount Offer

In 2008, the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) acquired perpetual access licenses to 8,000 titles from the Canadian Electronic Library for all consortium members. These were delivered on the ebrary platform.

Since then, CRKN users have logged more than 10 million page views per year.

And since then, the 70 publishers represented in Canadian Electronic Library have released more than 9,000 new titles, with more than 1,000 new titles appearing each year.

Under the CRKN license agreement signed with CEL in 2008, hosting was provided for 6 years, terminating on July 15,2014.

CEL now offers continued hosting on the ebrary platform for CRKN members for the annual price of $.05/FTE. Orders for this option are being assembled by CRKN and will be conveyed to CEL. Where this option is declined, hosting of these 8129 titles on the ebrary platform will cease on July 16, 2014.

This fee will be waived for current or new subscribers to the Canadian Publishers Collection or for CRKN members purchasing over $20,000 in perpetual access licenses for additional titles from CEL under a CRKN discount offer.
Discounts are incremental, starting at .05% and rising to 10% on a purchase of $20,000 or more.

To qualify for the waiver, these orders must be placed before July 15.

All titles purchased will be delivered on members' existing ebrary channels. License models available are determined by publishers.

Titles currently available under a single-user (SUPO) license

Titles currently available under a multiple-user (MUPO) license

Discounts will be applied to any title purchased, regardless of license model selected.

How to order

Subscriptions: See here for pricing for Canadian Publishers Collection. CRKN members holding titles under the 2008 license qualify for a 30% discount on the price to recognize overlapping content.

Perpetual Access: There are two ways of selecting titles and creating perpetual access quotes and orders.

Using the ebrary Preview Site:  All titles eligible for purchase (which have not already been included in the 2008 license) are included in this preview site specially built for CRKN members which contains all CEL titles available for perpetual access licensing and not included in the 2008 license. To create an order, sign in with your ebrary admin password. This will expose additional “list” tabs and functionality which you may use to build and save searches and compile orders.

See this page for more information.

Using desLibris: The Title Selector Account is available to every CRKN member. This account allows administrators/selectors to search for titles of interest, build and save sets, and easily generate quotes to determine exact pricing before ordering. These sets provide examples of the groupings available:
