[...] In 2006, the median age4 of the Aboriginal population in Winnipeg was 26 years, compared to 40 years for the non-Aboriginal population. [...] In 2006, about half (49%) of the Aboriginal population was under the age of 25, compared to 30% of non- Aboriginal people. [...] For example, 11% of Aboriginal women 35 years of age and older were attending school in 2006, compared to 7% of non-Aboriginal women in the same age group (see table 3 in the appendix).5 The 2006 Aboriginal Peoples Survey found that among the Aboriginal population in Manitoba (excluding reserves), men and women had different reasons for not completing high school.
