The FVRD Aggregate Pilot Project (APP) was initiated by the Minister of State for Mines in response to persistent and intense conflicts surrounding aggregate operations in the Fraser Valley Regional District. Its purpose is to develop recommendations, supported by local government and industry, for new approaches that reduce conflicts and secure a long-term stable aggregate supply. The project was guided by a committee - chaired by Randy Hawes, MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission - comprised of the Aggregate Producers Association of British Columbia, local governments, and the Ministry of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources. It met more than 20 times between 2004 and 2009 to develop the recommendations contained in this report and the conceptual mapping that accompanies it.
